There are so many improvements and updates from previous versions that make this product a great value and a lot of fun to use. There's a lot to enjoy about FotoMagico 4.1 and you may find yourself experimenting in the beginning. It would be helpful to have control over audio quality and format in the sharing modes, but that can be done in the QuickTime output mode as needed. In the Options section, parameters can be set for automatic or on-click transitions that are Apple-esque, Ã la Keynote.įotoMagico has output options presets for sharing your slide show via YouTube or Vimeo (with selectable quality settings), as well as viewing on several types of devices, such as iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and DVD output. With your images and videos in place, you can drag your background audio onto the timeline, as well. It saves time to have a project folder ready in advance with the content you wish to use. The default content is, of course, from your iPhoto Library and Pictures folder, but you can drag folders of photos, videos, and audio into the sidebar. From there, it's all dragging-and-dropping to your heart's content to create your timeline. When you launch the stand-alone software, you select the viewing device (monitor, television, or projector) and choose your photo folder or library content from your hard drive. The latest version of FotoMagico from Boinx Software is an easy and fun way for users of any experience level to create great slide shows with professional results. More often, we're seeing YouTube, promotional, and product demonstration videos in addition to portraiture presentations. The company also answered the call when it comes to audio, introducing precise keyframe control over volume level-perfect for situations where automatic “ducking” of the music track can’t handle the job.Creating slide shows from digital images isn't just for your desktop anymore. Users can now incorporate placeholder text into presentations, such as EXIF metadata stored inside photos, slide numbers, or title and artist information from the currently playing music track.Įditing text in previous versions was rarely a pleasurable experience, but Boinx finally kicked the slow, inefficient OS X font panel to the curb, incorporating native formatting options directly into the Options sidebar. But FotoMagico 5 Pro has several new tricks up its sleeve. Abracadabra!Īs a result of forking back into two applications, a number of previous features are no longer part of the consumer version, notably timeline view, access to Lightroom or Aperture libraries, and the ability to export ProRes video files. You can purchase additional snippets from the Boinx website, or create your own to reuse later in other projects.įotoMagico 5 includes a number of export options, but only the Pro version can handle ProRes and custom video files. There are also a variety of other drag-and-drop snippets for intros, titles, split-screens, effects, credits, and music, so even if you choose to build entire slideshows from scratch, FotoMagico 5 helps automate the process without the cookie-cutter look and feel of a template. You can add, rearrange, edit, or delete individual slides as needed. Stories can be used to create complete, start-to-finish presentations using royalty-free music in a variety of themes like Sightseeing, Beach, or Zoo, each with pre-composed placeholder shots the user swaps out for their own images. Both versions of FotoMagico 5 include the ability to build slideshows using snippets, but only the Pro edition now works in timeline view.įotoMagico 5 also introduces a feature called Snippets, a far more powerful way to build custom slideshows.
